NAHB Monthly Update Now Available
To help members articulate key housing priorities, NAHB’s Monthly Update provides the latest messaging framework for the Federation. Top stories for this month include:
  • NAHB’s Chairman, Bill Owens, offers a vision for the Federation’s future through the Blueprint to 100.
  • A recent court decision in a case brought by NAHB and 15 states pertaining to federal energy code mandates is a major win for members, housing affordability and common-sense regulations.
  • President Trump issued two executive orders on housing to remove regulatory barriers and provide better access to mortgage credit that will help ease the nation’s housing affordability crisis.
  • The Senate passed the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act to bolster the nation’s housing supply despite serious industry concerns.
  • Turning to market conditions, though new and existing homes remain largely unaffordable, the needle moved slightly in the right direction in the second half of 2025, according to the latest data from the NAHB/Wells Fargo Cost of Housing Index (CHI).
  • Builder confidence in the market for newly built single-family homes rose one point in March. In January, single-family starts remained soft and new home sales were down.
The monthly update is accessible to members, executive officers and HBA staff on nahb.org. The update also includes NAHB’s Senior Officers’ HBA travel schedule for the next six months. For questions related to the monthly update, contact Anna Briseño.
On the latest episode of NAHB’s podcast, Housing Developments, CEO Jim Tobin and COO Paul Lopez sit down with 2026 NAHB Chairman Bill Owens to discuss his plans for the year ahead, including the Blueprint to 100 initiative, and what’s happening in Washington. View the episode.
