Mike Meszes, President
North Coast Building Industry Association (NCBIA) www.ncbia.com
I am Mike Meszes, and I am proud to serve as the 2026 President of the North Coast Building Industry Association (NCBIA).
The North Coast Building Industry Association serves Erie, Huron, and Lorain counties. Since our founding in 1944, our members have played a vital role in the growth and economic development of our communities. As a not-for-profit affiliate of the Ohio Home Builders Association (OHBA) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), the NCBIA represents home builders and businesses directly connected to the residential construction industry.
Our membership includes builders, remodelers, tradespeople, and industry professionals who collectively strengthen housing throughout our region. We proudly uphold the principles of the free enterprise system and the American Way of Life.
About the Ohio Home Builders Association (OHBA)
The Ohio Home Builders Association is a statewide trade organization representing more than 4,000 members across Ohio. OHBA advocates for the residential building industry on legislative and regulatory matters, including wetlands, affordable housing, and workers’ compensation.
OHBA serves as the voice of the building industry at the state level, providing proactive leadership on issues that directly impact housing affordability, economic growth, and business operations.
About the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB)
Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the National Association of Home Builders is one of the largest trade associations in the United States. Founded in 1942, NAHB is a federation of more than 800 state and local associations representing over 140,000 members nationwide.
NAHB’s mission is to “enhance the climate for housing and the building industry.” Its work includes:
- Analyzing policy issues
- Monitoring housing finance systems
- Forecasting economic and consumer trends
- Providing educational resources
- Representing the industry on Capitol Hill
- Working with federal agencies on regulatory matters
Approximately one-third of NAHB members are home builders or remodelers, with the remaining members working in related fields such as mortgage finance, electrical, plumbing, and building product services.
Why Choose an NCBIA Member?
When building a new home, remodeling, or taking on home improvement projects such as painting, plumbing, or electrical work, consumers often ask: Why choose a member of the NCBIA?
Rigorous Vetting Process
Before a company becomes a member of the NCBIA, it undergoes a thorough review process. Our Membership Committee evaluates each applicant to confirm legitimacy, professionalism, and a solid track record in the building trades.
We go a step further by:
- Seeking feedback from current members
- Ensuring there are no objections
- Conducting a final review by the NCBIA Board of Directors
Only after completing this comprehensive process is a company approved for membership.
Code of Ethics & Professional Standards
NCBIA members must adhere to a strict Code of Ethics, along with the professional standards established by the Ohio Home Builders Association and the National Association of Home Builders.
This commitment ensures members conduct business professionally, ethically, and with integrity.
Warranty Protection for Your Peace of Mind
All NCBIA members are required to provide:
- A minimum one-year warranty on labor and materials
- Full extension of manufacturer warranties to their customers
This added protection ensures your contractor stands behind their work.
Why Membership Matters
NCBIA membership demonstrates a company’s long-term commitment to professionalism and to our local community. Contractors who plan to remain in business and maintain a strong reputation are willing to invest in membership at the local, state, and national levels.
While consumers should always perform their own due diligence before hiring any contractor, choosing an NCBIA member significantly reduces risk. Our members are held to higher standards — ensuring a positive and professional experience.
