Jeremy Vorndran, President, North Coast Building Industry Association
My name is Jeremy Vorndran and I am proud to serve as the President of the North Coast Building Industry Association for 2020. This year, I really want to focus on how great the association is for our members.
The North Coast Building Industry Association (NCBIA) serves all of Erie, Huron and Lorain counties. Our members have been an integral part of the growth and economic development of the communities we serve since 1944. The NCBIA was founded as a not-for-profit local affiliate of the Ohio Home Builders Association (OHBA) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) representing home builders and other businesses directly related to the home building industry. Our members include not only builders & remodelers, but tradesman and associated professions representing the collective interests of the residential construction industry in Erie, Huron and Lorain County. We hold safe the free enterprise system and the American Way of Life.
The Ohio Home Builders Association (OHBA) is a 4,000-plus member trade association representing home builders, and associates involved in the housing industry in a legislative and regulatory advocacy capacity on a statewide basis. OHBA serves its membership by promoting proactive involvement on state issues and legislation impacting the residential building industry, wetlands, affordable housing, workers compensation, etc. OHBA will continue to serve its members as the voice of the building industry on a state level.
The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) is one of the largest trade associations in the United States. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., NAHB’s mission is “to enhance the climate for housing and the building industry. Chief among NAHB’s goals are providing and expanding opportunities for all consumers to have safe, decent and affordable housing.” Founded in 1942, NAHB is a federation of more than 800 state and local associations. About one-third of NAHB’s more than 140,000 members are home builders or remodelers. The remaining members are associates working in closely related fields within the industry such as mortgage finance, electricians, plumbers and building products and services working in new and existing housing.
NAHB’s various groups analyze policy issues, take the industry’s story to the public through the media and other outlets, monitor and work toward improving the housing finance system, analyze and forecast economic and consumer trends, and educate, train and disseminate information to members. NAHB represents the industry’s interest on Capitol Hill and works with federal agencies on regulations affecting the housing industry in areas such as mortgage finance, codes, energy, and the environment and maintains the NAHB Research Center.
